About the Oberon Probus Club

The Oberon Probus Club Inc. really came into existence following a meeting at the Oberon RSL November 6th 2025. A committee was formed and on January the 21st, the Inaugural General Meeting will take place marking the operational start of the Club. There was a Probus Club in Oberon in the 1990s but it shut down about 2005, so this is a new era for Probus here.

Mission Statement

Our Probus Club exists to bring together retired and semi‑retired members of our community in a spirit of friendship, fellowship, and fun. We provide opportunities to stay socially connected, mentally stimulated, and actively engaged in life after work. Through regular meetings, guest speakers, outings, and special interest groups, we foster companionship, encourage lifelong learning, and celebrate the joy of shared experiences. Our goal is simple: to enrich retirement by creating a welcoming space where friendships flourish and every member feels valued.

Who Can Join?

Probus clubs are aimed at retired and semi-retired men and women. In practice, if you can find the time to attend monthly General Meetings and activities that usually occur on weekdays, you are very welcome to join. If you cannot get free time on weekdays, then the Club will not really work for you.

Who Chooses the Activities and Trips?

The activities and ideas for trips come directly from the interests and passions of our members. We are very keen to find people with interests that could turn into Club activities. There will be small and large trips. This can range from trips where we see how much we can get from a Seniors $2.50 Opal card or a $2.50 NSW TrainLink Pensioners Excursion day trip up to trips of a lifetime that might be shared with members from other Probus Clubs. On the more expensive multiday trips, there are some discounts available to Probus members, and if the group is big enough, there can be bulk discounts.
